Postponement of the election?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5411741/site/newsweek

This is one of the most shocking articles I have read in quite some time. Basically the Department of Homeland Security is seeking the power to postpone federal elections in the event of a terrorist attack. I am afraid to even speculate on the nature of this request, because I am too far appalled by the concept of it.

I think you are way off base here. What's the big deal with a sitting goverment controlling when or if an election will occur? Democracies like Pakistan, Iran, and pre-operation freedom Iraq have used this ability to "safe guard" elections in order to perserve their democracy and protect if from "corruptions". In my opinion the gov't should be doing more to monitor its citizens. I mean is freedom really worth it if every 3 to 5 years .001 percent of the populations lives are at risk. Think before you speak next time, you have a responsibility to your readers.
